1. College guides: Buy a college directory or check one out from the library to get descriptions of colleges. Or search a directory online.
2. Professional organizations: There is a professional organization for almost every career field imaginable. For most of these organizations, the purpose is not only to support those currently in the field but also to promote the field to students. Some offer information, services, and scholarships for students who are interested in the field. For example, on the American Veterinary Medical Association website

3. Current professionals: Those who are already in the field can be a great source of information because they are familiar with the schools with the strongest programs. Speak to your veterinarian about some potential college choices and get his or her advice. Ask about his or her background and training.
