Scholarships/Grants
The following scholarships/grants are available through Kentucky Nurses Foundation:
- Mildred Metz Scholarship – a $2,000 Scholarship awarded to a pre-licensure student, ADN or BSN, who is enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing located in Kentucky (pre-nursing students are not eligible to apply). Applicants must also be a KNA student member. This scholarship is in memory of Mildred Metz, the longtime director of the Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing.
- Nursing Excellence Scholarship - a $2,000 Scholarship awarded to a pre-licensure student, ADN or BSN, who is enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing located in Kentucky (pre-nursing students are not eligible to apply). Applicants must also be a KNA student member. This scholarship is in honor of all Kentucky Nurses.

Mildred Metz and Nursing Excellence Scholarship applications must be postmarked by Friday, August 16, 2024. They can also be emailed in a PDF format to KNA at admin@kentucky-nurses.org by close of business on August 16, 2024.

Research Grant - a $2,500 Research grant awarded twice per year to a licensed nurse, participating in research (pre-nursing students are not eligible to apply). Applicants must also be a KNA member. Please read the grant application policy before applying.

- Research grant applications must be postmarked by May 30 or July 31 each year. They can also be emailed in a PDF format to KNA at admin@kentucky-nurses.org by close of business on May 30 or July 31.
- Rural Nursing Scholarship - Scholarship awarded to a pre-licensure student, ADN or BSN, or licensed nurse furthering their education who is enrolled in an accredited School of Nursing located in Kentucky (pre-nursing students are not eligible to apply). Applicants must also be a KNA student member/KNA member. This scholarship is to provide financial support to pre-licensure nursing students and licensed nurses furthering their education who are or will be practicing in rural areas of the Commonwealth. Amount of this scholarship will be between $1,500 - $10,000 and is dependent on the funds raised through donations and other fundraising efforts of the KNF.
