Sushi Gets A New Doggy Door From Ron Hazelton's House Calls

Our Sushi is a star! In the next couple months, Sushi (along with her faithful owners) will appear on Ron Hazelton's House Calls television program.

The unique appeal of Ron's show is that he travels the country in his RV making house calls to aid homeowners with one-day projects.

Our project, selected from over 1,600 submissions from Bay Area homeowners, was simple yet vital. We asked Ron: Since we work at home and it disrupted our work to let Sushi in and out of the house throughout the day, wouldn't it be nice for her to be able to decide her own comings and goings by installing a doggy door? (After all, she is a very independent-minded dog and manages to get what she wants anyway.)

Sushi was a natural during the television taping. At first she was anxious about having a dozen people, an RV, two trucks, and three minivans filled with equipment invade her home turf, but as the day progressed, she took the chaos in stride. She especially shined when she let us measure her clearance (the length from the ground to her tummy) for the door, bit a measuring tape on cue, and thanklessly grabbed a masking tape ball for the camera.

You can see Sushi on House Calls sometime in November or December. Check with Ron's website for the time and station in your area.

What Is She Thinking?

We've always wondered what goes on inside of Sushi's head. Now we have some answers. Kelly's brother Greg gives us a peek at what Sushi is really thinking. Click on the thumbnail images to view the photos full size.

Puppy Training Starts!

Sushi is finally learning some manners. Sushi went to her first puppy training class and did extremely well. She was a model student and an example for the class. She now knows the following commands: "Sit," "Watch," "Down," "Off," and "Come." Now if only she would be this well behaved around visitors.
