One scholarship is open to students studying any major

Employment BOOST College Scholarships

At Employment BOOST, as a professional resume writing service that cares about helping our clients obtain meaningful work and grow in their careers, we know how valuable a college education is to help create a work path that matters. We are thrilled to offer two quarterly $1,000 scholarships for graduating high school students and students currently attending college.

One scholarship is open to students studying any major and is also eligible for students who are currently undecided about their course of study. The second scholarship is available to students who will major or are majoring in business or STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math).

These two scholarships are offered each year to eligible students. Each winner is only eligible to receive financial aid from Employment BOOST once, ensuring there is plenty of opportunity for students who have never received the award and for those who have previously applied but were not selected.

By awarding these scholarships to deserving students around the country each year, Employment BOOST is proud to play a role in fostering a new generation of professionals to pursue their dreams and make a positive contribution to their future employers and their communities.

How to Apply for the Employment BOOST $1,000 College Scholarships

High school students who have been accepted to college and students who are currently enrolled in a college or university are eligible to apply for the Employment BOOST college scholarship program. Additionally, the following criteria must be met for a student to be eligible to apply:

  • Students must be currently enrolled in a U.S.-based high school or college. Students graduating from high school must plan to attend college during the fall semester in the same year as the application.
  • Eligible colleges include two-year and four-year universities in the United States.
  • Students who apply must have a minimum GPA of 3.6. Current (unofficial) transcripts must be sent with the application.
  • High school students who are applying must have a letter of acceptance from the college they intend to attend. A copy of this letter must be included in the application.
  • One letter of reference must be included in the application. This letter must come from one of the following sources: a current or former teacher of the student, or a current or former employer of the student.

In addition to these requirements, students applying for each scholarship must submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay. The essay requirements depend on the major the student plans on studying or is currently studying in college.

Students who are applying for the $1,000 college scholarship that is open to any major must write an essay based on the poem “Howl,” Part 1, by Allen Ginsberg. You can find the poem here. Carefully read the poem, and use your interpretation of the poem to write an essay that explains what message you believe the writer was trying to convey in the poem. Include what the poem means to you, and why the poem is relevant for today’s society.

Students majoring in business or a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering, or math) must write an essay based on this prompt: “How is technology going to change your way of life in 15 years?” Your response can include thoughts on subjects ranging from work to home and personal life.
Contact information of the student who is applying, including full name, address, phone number, email address, and intended or current major should be included on each page of the essay. The same contact information must be included on the letter of reference from the person who is writing the letter. Here’s a reminder of what must be included as part of your application. You can submit all materials online here.
  • Current school transcripts which display a GPA of 3.6 or above.
  • Letter of acceptance from a college educational program the applicant plans on attending in the fall semester, or proof of current enrollment in a United States-based two- or four-year college or university.
  • Letter of reference from a current or former teacher or employer. The letter must include the writer’s full name, address, phone number, and email address, and be typed.
  • 500- to 1,000-word essay meeting the criteria based on the scholarship the student is applying for. The essay must be typed and have the applicant’s full contact information displayed on each page, including full name, address, phone number, email address, and intended or current major.

Applications are accepted year-round, on a rolling basis.

Financial aid winners will be notified by the contact information provided, by phone and email. Winners will receive a $1,000 check that may be used to cover college or university education expenses of the student’s choice.

Past winners are not eligible to apply after they’ve won. Applicants who did not win are eligible to reapply the following year. Applicants who do not win will not be notified, but you may contact ebteam@employmentboost.com with any questions.
