  • Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment Program
    Up to $10,000

    Sponsor: Maryland Higher Education Commission

    Eligibility: Applicants must live in Maryland, and they must be employed full-time by Maryland state or local government or nonprofit organizations that serve low income or underprivileged people. They must have a degree from a Maryland college or from any law school, or certification from the Maryland State Department of Education. Priority is given to individuals who have graduated in the past three years. Applicants must also have college loans on which they have not defaulted, and each person's annual gross salary must be under $60,000. Applicants must work in one of the following positions: lawyers, teachers, nurses, nurse faculty members, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, speech pathologists or physician assistants.

  • Truman Scholar
    Up to $30,000
    February 6
    Sponsor: Truman Scholarship Foundation

    Eligibility: Applicants must be juniors, attending an accredited U.S. college or university and be nominated by the institution. Students may not apply directly. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals, complete an application and write a policy recommendation.
