  • Clay and Elsie Williams Rural Conservation Scholarship

    Sponsor: Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region

    Eligibility: Applicants must be seniors from King George County High School or be a home-schooled student residing in King George County with a minimum 2.7 GPA. Students must demonstrate plans to attend a four-year college or university, a community college or a vocational/technical school. Preference will be given to students with a rural or agricultural background and from those who have circumstances or financial need that create obstacles to further education.

    Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an accredited California post-secondary educational institution and must have career goals that are related to communicating and interpreting nature's wonder. Students pursuing degrees in environmental protection, forestry, wildlife and fisheries biology, parks and recreation, park management, environmental law and public policy, environmental art and California history are encouraged to apply. Selection is based on dedication to the ideals of the scholarship and financial need.

    How to apply: Student must submit a statement of personal and career goals, a resume (and portfolio if applicable) and transcripts of all college work completed to date. On the cover page, include your name, address, phone number and college major.

  • Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program and Scholarship Competition

    Sponsor: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Headquarters

    Eligibility: Applicants must be in kindergarten to 12th grade and submit their artwork to their state or local department. Students must be U.S. citizens, resident aliens or nationals. The first place national winner has their art made into the next Federal Junior Duck Stamp and travels with a parent to the next First Day of Sale event for their stamp.

  • George Montgomery/NRA Youth Wildlife Art Contest
    Up to $1,000

    Sponsor: National Rifle Association

    Eligibility: Applicants must be in grades 1 through 12 and submit an original artwork depicting any North American game bird or animal that may be legally hunted or trapped. NRA membership is not required. Art is divided into categories based on grade level and is judged on effort, creativity, anatomical accuracy and composition.
